Sidney Championship Rodeo
Held in a modern and spacious facility on the west side of town, the Sidney Rodeo is Iowa's oldest continuous outdoor rodeo, and is recognized by the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association as one of the best small outdoor rodeos in the nation.

Fremont County Fair

The Fremont County Fair takes place in July each year at the fairgrounds on the west side of Sidney and includes everything you'd expect at a county fair; A variety 4-H, FFA and Open Class contests, exhibitions and Rides. With the inclusion of Live Music and plenty of good food, it's always a great time for all. |

- Nine-hole county golf course two miles south of town
Golfing enthusiasts will enjoy the Fremont County Golf Course. It can be reached at 712-374-2347.
- Softball, football and baseball fields located around town and tennis courts at the golf course.
- Beautiful and spacious city park - Between the Rodeo Arena and Fair Grounds
- Municipal swimming pool - Located in the City Park
The Municipal Swimming Pool provides summertime fun for the whole family. It usually opens Memorial Day weekend, weather permitting. It can be reached at 712-374-3368.
- Abundant hunting and fishing areas
- Waubonsie State Park six miles south of Sidney on Highway 2
Waubonsie is a great place for a family picnic. A scenic open picnic shelter may be reserved for a fee through the park manager. The park also features 40 campsites, 24 with electrical hookups, modern shower and restroom facilities and a trailer dump station. The equestrian campground contains 32 campsites and non-modern restroom facilities. Camping permits are issued through self-registration at the campground. Camping fees can be paid at the site.
Waubonsie also has 7 miles of foot trails and 8 miles of equestrian trails winding along windswept ridges down into gorges and valleys. Waubonsie offers the hiker a wonderful experience. The scenery along the trails in comparable. The horseback rider will likewise enjoy the trails and the opportunity to use the equestrian campground. The Sunset Ridge Interpretive Trail provides a chance to learn about many of the park's important plants and trees, as well as enjoy some tremendous views.
Waubonsie State Park is a site on the national Lewis and Clark Historical Trail.
